Classic glazed partitions for Danish sustainable energy company

The hydrogen company Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS) is expanding its headquarters in Kolding with a conversion of existing facilities and a new extension for administration and production. DEKO’s contribution includes the supply of fire-rated glazed partitions and doors for the atrium and office areas in the new wing.

Green Hydrogen Systems produces electrolysis plants that convert renewable energy and water into green hydrogen – a product with great potential that is creating significant interest.

The extension to the headquarters extension is very much in keeping with the original architecture and features horizontal sash windows and a canopy at ground floor level. In bringing the two together, a high-ceilinged stairwell with wooden mouldings acts as a link between the existing building and the new wing.

Floors with glazed partitioning allow daylight to spread

An open canteen is located on the lower level, while an atrium and three floors of office workspaces move up through the building. Large glazed sections out towards the atrium provide transparency and coherence between the various floors. This gives the feeling of being able to follow what’s going on at the workplace from both sides of the glass.

All the glazed partitions and doors, for areas with or without fire-rating requirements, are supplied by DEKO. In addition to the expanse of fire-rated glazed partitions that form the atrium, DEKO glazed partitions are also used in meeting rooms and selected offices to render lightness to the interior design and additional transparency between the rooms. With continuous ceilings and tremendous openness between the rooms, each individual’s work station feels connected to the workplace as a whole. The offices provide a view into the open landscape, this contributing in turn to excellent daylight distribution.

With Kjæhr & Trillingsgaard A/S as the general contractor, the building has been delivered significantly ahead of schedule, largely owing to great flexibility from all subcontractors and advisers in the team, says company director Morten Højlund. He is also happy that there has been excellent cooperation and mutual trust with the subcontractors and advisers in the team.
