EPD as a competitive advantage – DEKO takes part in environmental documentation project

As part of our environmental documentation efforts, DEKO has taken part in “EPD as a competitive advantage”, a project to promote the knowledge of EPDs in the construction business.

During the first months of 2019, EPD Danmark in cooperation with other construction industry organisations has carried out three workshops to investigate and promote the knowledge of EPD as environmental documentation in the building industry. The main focus of the project was to shed light on the value that can be gained for a company from having an EPD for its product.

EPD Danmark has collected input from a wide group of stakeholders across the building industry and invited different speakers to share their knowledge and their experiences with the use of EPDs. DEKO has taken part in all three workshops during the project and our company is featured in the booklet which concluded the project.

The booklet contains several case stories from different types of companies who work with EPDs, and it gives a very helpful introduction to EPDs: what they are, how they are made, and how to use them.

As it is DEKO’s wish to contribute to the greening of the construction business, we are active in developing environmental documentation for our products. Among other things, we have an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for the FG Glazed Partition, showing the total environmental footprint through the full life cycle of the product from extraction of materials to waste disposal.

We are constantly following the growing demand for environmental documentation from our clients, and we are working towards being able to support certified sustainable building projects, e.g. DGNB, LEED and BREEAM with our product documentation.
